THE ARTAS® ROBOTIC PROCEDURE

The ARTAS® Robotic Procedure restores hair by transferring permanent hair from the back or side of the head to areas with thinning hair. The physician utilizes the ARTAS Robotic System to digitally scan the scalp and identify natural groupings of hair. Using the image-guided robotics of the ARTAS Robotic System, the selected hair is precisely removed. The majority of the existing hair is left untouched to maintain a natural appearance in the donor area.

The physician then transplants the extracted hair into the thinning areas. The transplanted hair will grow naturally in its new location, just as it did before.

HERE ARE THE TYPICAL STEPS OF AN ARTAS® ROBOTIC PROCEDURE:

  • Trim the area of the scalp for transplantation
  • Apply local anesthetic
  • Place a skin tensioner on the scalp
  • Digitally map the area and analyze the position of each natural grouping of hair
  • Harvest donor hair in a random fashion with the guidance of the doctor
  • Repeat the above process until the desired amount of hair is acquired
  • Transplant the grafts into the desired areas of the scalp according to the physician's design
  • The implanted grafts grow as permanent hair

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

Patients typically resume their regular activities within a day or two after the procedure, and after a week, both the donor and recipient areas should look similar to how they were before. Most patients notice a significant improvement in their hair growth around the six-month mark. By nine months, they can expect to have natural-looking hair that will last a lifetime.
